Back again stronger than EVER!

Well its been awhile once again since I have last posted a Blog... But I have made some serious changes! Such as I have moved to Colorado to get some high altitude training and also hope to met up with some great runners out here to either train with once in awhile or maybe get some good advice.

Things are slowly getting better. That's how I need to take it is one day at a time even though I do want it all right now to be amazing, that's apart of the whole journey though and I wouldn't have it any other way.

As far as an update to what has happened in the last couple years is not much. All in all I ran here and there and didn't really get into shape much. I think the highlight of everything was I ran 32 miles on my last birthday. If I didn't post about the Huntsville marathon it didn't go well at all. I think I ran my worst time ever and died after mile 13.

So as planned I am going to focus on beating my dad's PR's from 10k to the Mile in that order. I still have a lot of training ahead of me to get into that kind of shape but I am going to do it!
Times I need to hit in order to break my Goal "Dad's" PR's

10k 29:49
5k  14:12
Mile: 4 flat

I know these are crazy times but as a lot of successful people say.... "You have to reach for the top, if you think big you are going to get big". I've always known I can run fast I just need to train the best I can.

Until next time!

Huntsville Marathon Blog

Tomorrow is my Huntsville marathon!
I'm Excited: For the opportunity & to run a faster time! To race!
I'm Scared: That everything will not come together and fail at the time I want.

This will be my last marathon for quite some time and then time to focus on the shorter races to start chasing my Dad's records for 1 mile, 5k, 10k.

I feel ready to run a fast time. My legs seem to be stronger than they where last year. I also feel that I put in great work and got in enough miles.

Things I would have like to have improved are flexibility and faster splits on work outs and be more confident with myself.

WELL its less than 24 hours for the race and I am going to go for the GOLD! I feel like if its just Finny at the race then I will win for sure! Won't know until about 10 miles in so here WE GO!!

Update with the Huntsville Marathon

-Friday-

Update on Huntsville Marathon, Its offical that I am in and got my entry code from them :)
I am curious of who will be in the race this year!

Great Progress to major issue's within 2 days......

Saturday - Today

Sat- Went out with the group to do a nice run on Provo Canyon trail. They planned a nice 10 miles up and 10 back with tempo. On the way up I had to keep loosing water so I did a bit of tempo to keep catching back up on the way up.

On the way back down I decided to push the pace once it flatten out and that is what happened except my laces kept going un-done. Finally got that sorted and caught up with the leader doing 20 miles total (6:20 per mile pace) at mile 13-4ish. I stayed with him for less than a mile then naturally pushed it into pace again, felt like low 5min per mile but he said it had to have been in high 4 minutes a mile. Felt good but I couldn't hold it for long with such a great week worth of work outs so i'd say over all I pushed it around 4-5 miles. So I caught up to Bill and immediately he said to catch up to TY and without his words to keep going I would have just stayed with him so I caught up to TY that was about half a mile in front of Bill so I pushed it maybe another mile or so then at that point I stayed with him going about 6:45-50 per mile but he said he needed to be at 6:40 so at this point we were exiting the mouth of the Provo Canyon on the way back to the soccer field and I helped him push to the pace he wanted, then once he had enough miles he wanted to go then I pushed the pace again because I felt rested and ready to go again, once I got going I felt great and I decided to put an all out kick at the end because I felt so fresh. I got to the soccer fields and there was a group of people running around doing speed sessions and that motivated me to push even harder. Even after I stopped and rested a bit and got my supplements in and shake, I went out again to do a little more sprints because I felt so good.  Still couldn't charge my Garmin because I lost the cable :(

The next day I was just resting and trying to get as much rest as I could so I was just laying in bed and watching marathon videos of the last year and to learn some new things. I decided to go take a look at my Audi S4 to try to see if I could figure out whats going on with it, on the way out I felt a pain that I remembered I had not to long ago that felt like back pain. I was wondering if I actually did hurt my back but turns out it was again kidney pain..... So today I am feeling a bit better than yesterday, but the pain is still there. I will take another day to see if will be mostly gone tomorrow (Wednesday) and if so go for a long run. Before it took about 4-5 days before it didn't really hurt. I could say I didn't hydrate myself correctly the rest of that day and next so that is probably the main cause of this kidney pain and it seems that it happened the same way as last time. I drove to my sisters in C.O. and didn't hydrate enough after running the Utah Valley marathon.  Its a shame I couldn't use this week to really hammer out some good workouts as I was planning but maybe I need the rest. I do know one thing I will be running a great marathon for Huntsville!  I can't wait for it to get closer to time to run it :)

Thanks for reading! Have a fantastic day!

Easy Run Decent Pace

|Todays WorkOut|

Quote of the Day "Most people quit because they look how far they have to go, not how far they have come" Unknown
Aug 26
I have been getting some great advice from my dad (Phil Peterson) and so far I feel it has been a great challenge of the advice he has given me.
I asked how he usually went on easy days, so I decided to go out at a decent pace and go up towards the mouth of the canyon and try to hold it, I was able to go the whole way around 7-7:30 min pace (no garmin yet :( lost the charge cord dang it)
I am staying up on my core work outs afterwards and I feel like that is really keeping me strong. I am still having issues with my calves but I hope they slowly start healing good  soon!
I am staying pretty steady at 170lbs lately but it sure feels nice!

Aug 27
For todays workout I am going to start doing some longer tempo to see how long I can last as a test for the marathon on tired legs :) We'll see how that goes.

I'll Update that later after it happens.
Today I will be running 8-10 miles tempo at 6-6:30 per mile. I feel pretty good so this should be fun!

Long run day!

<Almost 3 hour run day>

Got up early 5am- Aug. 24th 2015
Ran 45min in the morning. Did sit ups. Went to work then ran about 1:55 minutes after but felt very sore still and it was 97 degrees out so I couldn't go as far as I wanted.

Today I will be doing a ladder workout.  1 mile 1200 800 400 200 × two sets.
Here are my times from the work out today.
1 mile- 5:20 (5 min rest)
1200m- 3:39 (3 1/2 min rest)
800m- 2:34 (2 min rest)
400m- 71 (1 1/2 rest)
200m-29 seconds

2nd set rest 6 min rest

1 mile - 5:34(5min rest)

1200m- 3:40 (3:30 min rest)
800m-  2:34 (1:30 min rest)
400m- 70  (1 1/2 rest)
200m - 28.74
mile cool down and warm up :) hardest workout this year! weigh 169lbs afterwards :D
I am starting to feel a lot better, finally feels like my achilies is healing, doesn't bother me as much anymore. I bought these copper compression socks. Now all i need is to heal my calves and I will be about 100%. I also took a Espom salt bath that seemed to help, also icing. :)
Also I am on a diet from Muscle Pharm called the Bizzy diet. Suppose to be a 22 day program but I might keep going until I get down to my race weight which is in the 150lbs. Currently I am about 170lbs.

I am very excited to see where I am going this season because I am putting in a lot of work and trying to do what I can, currently putting in about 70 miles a week. I don't feel too bad yet, a little tired but I was looking forward to being like that.

Thank for reading! I will update the workout later today.

Getting Serious Once AGAIN!

It has been a long time since I have posted anything in here and over the last couple years I have learned a lot and will continue to learn it seems.

Over the last couple years I have ran some good races and even won a marathon Huntsville UT(with the exception of no elite male runners than than me), but a win is a win! I do need to mention there was some great elite female runners! I also gained a huge PR of 2:42:30 for the marathon in that race.
I also got a huge PR in a half marathon of 1:10:32. I feel in a couple months I will be back in that type of shape, just need to continue my motivation and determination.

I also have some injuries that are getting annoying, such as, achilies problems and now starting to get on the side of my calfs micro tendon tears ( it feels, ex. shine splints).

I feel like I should be able to get some sort of sponsorship with the times I run and ability, but I do know I need some help with people to follow me so I am going to start working on that as well :)

I also feel it will be a fun journey to see where I can go and what kind of shape I will achieve. The WILL is there but I need to continue to work through failures and not stop but embrace fear and use that to strive onto success.

I give many thanks for every person that will start to follow me on this new and exciting adventure towards my dreams!
